Lowell described how he set up a reading team for his reading requirements (I think he has dyslexia?). He read some content, but assigned content to others to read and summarize to him. Since you're responsible for understanding the *content*, but not necessarily reading every word - that's a doable alternative, I'd think :) Seriously, you could.
