Our church engaged Rose during the most significant period of change that we’ve had in our 20 year history. During an 8 month engagement, Rose authored a report that provided a balanced external perspective of our key issues, including identifying a host of items that were no longer serving our church well while affirming a core set of areas that continue to be at the heart of God’s calling on our church. She then journeyed alongside our leadership team to begin to create a bridge into our next phase of life. Throughout this all, I appreciated Rose’s wisdom and friendship as it helped us navigate a very uncertain time. In working with us, Rose successfully balanced a consultative approach that empowered and encouraged our existing leadership, while also offering her own perspectives and accompanying rationale gained from a deep body of personal experience. Our church and leadership is in a healthier place now than when we started working together.
Spiritual Direction is a form of pastoral care given by mature women and men who walk alongside us as we discern together the movements of God’s Spirit and grace in our lives. A spiritual director is also like a midwife who provides the space that enables individuals to give birth to what is deep inside. Like the midwife who sits with a woman giving birth, a spiritual director is a calm presence who is there to listen, to encourage, to be present during times of struggle and to celebrate the times of joy. Spiritual Direction is a ministry of presence.
A coach provides objective, honest, practical, and safe feedback while walking with you through your personal challenges. Here are some reasons why you might need to link up with a coach.
Rose is also available to consult and coach leadership teams. Her years of experience in ministry combined with her work at The Seattle School brings years of practice and wisdom in forming cohesive teams, resilience in times of great disruption, and spiritual guidance for groups via consulting, workshops and retreats.
